The Great British Bake Off quarter-finals are upon us, and – for the first time ever – the bakers will have to face the wrath of Tudor Week.
This means the five remaining contestants have to cook recipes from 500 years ago, such as water crust pastry pies stuffed with meats and other juicy fillings.
For many fans of Bake Off watching at home, it was a welcome addition to the BBC programme’s regular roll-call of themes, such as Cake Week, Biscuit Week, Pastry Week and, of course, Bread Week.

And some fans just saw it as an opportunity to eat pork pies while watching the episode.
It's Tudor week & so i've bought Pork Pies... #GBBO pic.twitter.com/ZmyUWc4KLt

#TudorWeek means pies and we’ve got a hand-raised pork pie recipe, good enough for Henry VIII himself! https://t.co/5SW7J12TEO pic.twitter.com/9kPFkS8FxR

Yum. What would Henry VIII have thought of all this?
