Ed Balls will need to be strong, fast and fresh from the fight to survive another week on Strictly Come Dancing as he wrestles with the paso doble to Footloose anthem Holding Out For A Hero.

The former shadow chancellor and his partner Katya Jones have failed to score more than 24 points from the judges during the first three weeks of competition but are yet to face the dreaded dance-off thanks to a wave of public support.

Their paso doble to Bonnie Tyler’s 1984 track, which asks “where have all the good men gone, and where are all the gods?”, on Saturday night will follow last week’s samba to Cuban Pete in which Ed donned a green mask and yellow suit to the delight of viewers.

Fellow crowd favourite Judge Rinder and his partner Oksana Platero will dance the Viennese waltz to Boom Bang A Bang by Lulu whilst Olympic champion Greg Rutherford will salsa to Olly Murs’ Wrapped Up.

Meanwhile bookies’ favourite and actor Danny Mac will perform a quickstep to Fred Astaire’s I Won’t Dance and Louise Redknapp will foxtrot to Amy Winehouse’s Tears Dry On Their Own.

The programme’s oldest competitor, 70-year-old Lesley Joseph, will perform the charleston to Won’t You Charleston With Me by The Boy Friend.

However Will Young’s planned Viennese waltz to Christina Aguilera’s Say Something was binned after the Pop Idol winner pulled out of the series.

Songs from Barbra Streisand, George Michael and Bruno Mars will also feature on Saturday night’s show
