Comedy star Miranda Hart has landed a movie role as a fairy in the big-screen adaptation of The Nutcracker.
The former Call The Midwife actress, 43, joins Dame Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and Keira Knightley – who plays the Sugar Plum Fairy – in the Disney film.
Miranda, 43, joked that playing a fairy, Dew Drop, felt like a natural fit.
“I won’t lie, I am very excited to be playing a fairy. (Natural casting),” she joked.
Miranda made her Hollywood breakthrough in last year’s film Spy, as Melissa McCarthy’s colleague.
She bowed out of her self-titled sitcom on a high in 2015, after five years of success for the BBC show.
Due out next year, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is directed by Chocolat filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom.
The live-action film is based on author ETA Hoffmann’s 1816 story The Nutcracker And The Mouse King, which was adapted into the Tchaikovsky ballet.
