Nearly 400 people are waiting on a bed at hospitals across the country today.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation claims 317 people are on trolleys while a further 76 are in overflow areas of wards.

According to the latest trolleywatch report, University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded with 52 people in need of a bed.

Cork University Hospital is next with 39 people on trolleys and overflow areas of wards, while University Hospital Galway has 34 people waiting.
