The 1990s cartoon series could soon be getting the film star treatment from Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers aired in the early 1990s and centered on five young people from around the world who were given magical rings with the power to control natural elements.

United, they could summon Captain Planet, a superhero who helps them fight environmental evils.

Oscar-winner Leo has long been an environmental activist and his climate change documentary Before The Flood just screened at the BFI London Film Festival.

His company is also reportedly preparing a post-climate change “young adult fantasy franchise” offering in Sandcastle Empire.
