BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt was left blushing profusely after attempting to impress guest Catherine Tate with an impersonation of her most famous catchphrase… but getting it completely wrong.
The comedian and TV personality, who appeared on the daily morning programme to promote her UK tour, was hilariously not “bovvered” after the presenter made his epic mistake.
Charlie kicked things off by attempting to repeat a catchphrase made famous on her sketch programme, The Catherine Tate Show.
He said: “I’m going to get it wrong now… yes but, no but.”
However, he failed to realise that he had actually repeated a phrase famously used by Matt Lucas’ Little Britain character Vicky Pollard.
Catherine – who had a similar surly teenage girl character called Lauren Cooper, who constantly asked “Am I bovvered?” – was unfazed by Charlie’s faux pas.
She said: “Yes… but, no but is not me but. Yes, but no but, that is Little Britain but.”
Charlie immediately started to apologised but she coolly leaned forward to say: “Am I bovvered?”
She went on, much to Charlie and his co-presenter Naga Munchetty’s delight: “Look face, Charlie, face, bovvered, I ain’t!”
Whoops! Better luck next time, Charlie.
