The first challenge of the semi-final of The Great British Bake Off saw some fantastically vintage moments in the tent.

With the bakers tasked with creating 24 savoury puff pastry palmiers, there were some funny moments as each of the four remaining contestants had more air time than ever before.

For one of the hopefuls, it seemed the fame was getting to his head a bit as Selasi Gbormittah attempted to take over the job of presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.

He shouted out to his fellow bakers that there were “two more hours” to go in the challenge.

This prompted Sue to shout out: “Are you doing me out of a job mate? This is all I had! I was like the speaking clock but with puns, that’s all we had!”

Fans on Twitter were up in arms over Selasi’s cheeky takeover while others thought Sue mentioning “this is all I had” a bit sad, given that this is her penultimate episode on the Bake Off before it moves to Channel 4.

Meanwhile, Mel was left having to reapply Candice Brown’s lipstick as it had almost completely disappeared during her bake.

Known and respected for her love of a strong lip, it was all viewers on Twitter could do not to implode over the impossibly cute, girl-power moment.

Whatever will these bakers do next?
