The Mercy University Hospital have appealed to the public to use other care services due to a surge in patients.

Patients with less urgent complaints are asked to contact their GPs or South Doc or avail of the services at the Mercy Urgent Care Centre, St Mary’s Health Campus and other urgent care units in Cork city.

The hospital has said that patients have regrettably been experiencing long delays due to the exceptional numbers attending the Emergency Department.

Members of the public are also reminded the South Doc is an option for those seeking medical attention outside of working hours, while the Mercy Urgent Care Centre, St Mary’s Health Campus, Gurranabraher is open from 8am to 6pm‬, the Local Injuries Unit at Bantry General Hospital operates between 8am and 7.30pm ‬and the Local Injuries Unit in Mallow General Hospital is open from 8am‬and 7pm‬.
