The health watchdog has stated that some hospitals are not adequately assessing patient’s nutrition levels.

HIQA released new reports into care at Tallaght, Limerick and Beaumont Hospitals today.

It has found that ad hoc systems of ensuring patients are properly nourished and hydrated on admission to hospital and throughout their stay.

Concern has also been raised about communication with patients on their food requirements during their time under medical care.
