Cork City have moved back to within four points of Dundalk in their head-to-head battle for the Airtricity League.

Cork recovered from going a goal down to seal a 3-1 win tonight over St Pat’s at Turner’s Cross in a game they had to win if they were to have any chance of over-hauling the defending champions at the top of the table.

Conan Byrne put the Saints ahead mid-way through the first-half.

But John Caulfield’s side recovered well to score a 3-1 victory with goals from Mark O’Sullivan, Sean Maguire and Steven Beattie.

Meanwhile, Wexford Youths have been condemned to taking part in the promotion-relegation play-off after they were held to a scoreless draw by Finn Harps tonight at Ferrycarrig Park.

The point was enough for Harps to secure their top-flight status while the Youths will now face the winners of the First Division play-off between Cobh Ramblers and Drogheda United.

Also tonight, Shamrock Rovers were held to a 0-0 draw by Bray Wanderers at the Tallaght Stadium

Elsewhere, Derry City were 2-1 winners over Sligo Rovers at the Brandywell while it finished scoreless between Galway United and Longford Town.
