It is understood that a member of the Citizens’ Assembly has been replaced, after it was revealed they had previously been in a pro-choice group.

The man was one of 99 citizens randomly selected by polling company Red C to take part in the forum, which held its first meeting last week.

But it has since emerged that he was a non-active member of a pro-choice campaign group, and had been an active campaigner four years ago.

While Assembly rules do allow members who have previous opinions on the subject, they do not allow campaigners or lobbyists to serve as members.
