Sir Bruce Forsyth’s daughter says he has “had a hard year but he is getting there”.
The veteran TV star’s daughter, Julie Forsyth, was appearing on BBC Breakfast to talk about her latest music venture, a country album called Keep It Country, and also spoke about her famous father.
Julie said he is “good thanks”, and when asked what he thought of her music added: ”He doesn’t really like country music but he loves this single (Keep It Country).”
Recent reports allege Sir Bruce may be set to officially announce his retirement from showbiz after a 77-year long career.
A friend has been quoted by the Daily Mail as saying the former Strictly Come Dancing stalwart, who is now 88, wants to enjoy “spending time with his nearest and dearest”.
“He has always wanted to retire on his own terms, and go out on a high as the consummate professional he is,” his friend told the Daily Mail.
Last year he suffered a serious fall at his home in Surrey and had surgery the following month.
The entertainer has been recovering from surgery to treat two aneurysms which saw him too frail to attend the funeral of close friend Ronnie Corbett on April 18.
His wife of 33 years, Lady Wilnelia Forsyth-Johnson, spoke about his health at the launch of her new business venture, a candle range, in June this year.
She said: “He’s doing much better. But he’s still convalescing. It was a big, big operation.
“It’s taking much longer than we expected, but we’re positive that he can recuperate 100%.”
Sir Bruce announced he was leaving Strictly Come Dancing in April 2014, after nearly 10 years as the presenter of the show.
Julie, who is 58, spoke about finding success with her husband, Dominic, who has recorded the album with her. They were in the band Guys ‘n Dolls together.
She told the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: “It’s wonderful that we’re being given the opportunity, and in Britain too.”
