The Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar will try to encourage even more visitors to Temple Bar later when he launches a new festival of culture.

The ‘View’ will run from November 16-20, and promises a unique mix of debate, comedy and politics.

Hundreds of thousands of tourists come to see Dublin’s cultural quarter,Temple Bar, each year.

Satirist Oliver Callan and controversial chef Richard Corrigan are just some of the guests headlining the View Temple Bar Politics, Arts & Ideas Festival.

Minister Varadkar said that Temple Bar continues to be a lively community, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists and visitors every year.

He said: “This festival will encourage Dubliners to take time out with their family and friends to see for themselves the hive of arts and cultural activities that happen here every week.

“I look forward to the satirical view of politics as well as the discussions and debates that will follow. I wish all those participating in the festival every success”.

Temple Bar Company CEO Martin Harte said that the festival promotes local arts within the area – and gives visitors and politicians the opportunity to take time out to satirise and discuss the politics of the day.

Many of the events and activities are free of charge.

“We will have political reviews and debate as well as art and film exhibitions, music and poetry. The programme of events is possible thanks to the support of the cultural institutions and local businesses in Temple Bar”, Mr Harte said.
