James Corden and former One Direction member Niall Horan are good friends, but that didn’t stop James asking the singer to make a rather awkward choice on live television.

Niall appeared on The Late Late Show with James as a guest, alongside actress Isla Fisher and Ewan McGregor and the foursome played a game of Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts.

The game sees them being asked questions and if they decide not to answer, they have to eat some of the less than tasty treats on a table in front of them.

James asked Niall if it was the last night on earth, which of his ex-girlfriends, Selena Gomez or Ellie Goulding, he would rather spend it with.

Niall answered: “Because it’s the last night on earth. Ellie is a big fan of Planet Earth by David Attenborough, so I’d sit and watch that with her. For that reason, Ellie Goulding. ”

He also admitted to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres he still has a crush on Ellie, whom he dated for a few months. He picked her during a game of Who’d You Rather.

Ellie responded on Twitter with a pair of eyes looking sideways. Who knows, maybe they will rekindle that romance?
