Paul O’Connell is a hero in most people’s eyes for his successful rugby career but he may have found a new calling, writes Steve Neville.

Appearing on BBC quiz show A Question of Sport, Paulie was teamed with captain Phil Turnell and jockey AP McCoy.

In a hangman style game, the teams were to be asked questions identifying sportspeople, whose initials would fill in the blanks of a 23 letter answer. The answer could be anything to do with sport and the winner would be the team to correctly guess it.

After McCoy correctly identified Croation Goran Ivanisevic, two of the 23 letters were filled in leading Paulie to correctly guess the answer on the first attempt – Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Just watch.

A thoroughly deserved standing ovation. Legend.
