Revenue officers have seized cannabis and cigarettes in two separate raids in Dublin.
Officers, with the help of detector dog Meg, seized more than €1m worth of herbal cannabis at a warehouse in South County Dublin today.
On Tuesday, officers also seized 11,000 cigarettes and more than 12kg tobacco during a house search in Rush, Co. Dublin.
The cigarettes, branded “Rothmans”, “L&M” and “Bond”, and tobacco, branded “West”, “Marlboro”, “Pall Mall” and “Marlboro Gold”, came from Hungary and have a retail value of more than €11,400.
Officers said their sale on the black market would have meant a loss to the Exchequer of almost €10,000.
They have interviewed a Hungarian man in his 30s in connection with the seizure.
The cannabis seizure brings the total value of drugs seized by Revenue to over €10m in the last fortnight.
