Gardaí in Longford have launched an appeal for information following a fatal stabbing yesterday.
A murder inquiry is underway.
However the deceased’s identity has not yet been released, other than confirmation that he was a Polish national.
The man, who is thought to have been in his early 30s, was treated for chest wounds at Mullingar Hospital (pictured) before he was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon.
CCTV footage is being analysed as part of the investigation.
Superintendent Jim Delaney said his assailant was wearing a blue track top with a thin, red stripe down the sleeve, grey track bottoms and runners.
He appealed to anyone around Longford Town Shopping centre around 12 midday yesterday and who observed any altercation between two men, to contact them.
