A man has died after being hit by a car in Co. Tipperary last night.

The collision happened on the N24, Limerick to Waterford Road at Ballykisteen at around 8pm last night.

The man, aged 23, suffered serious injuries when he was struck by the car, and was later pronounced dead after he was taken to University Hospital Limerick.

A post-mortem will take place at the hospital later.

Nobody else was injured were reported and no arrests have been made.

The N24 is closed at Ballykisteen for a forensic examination, and diversions are in place at Monard and Barnstown Cross.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly those travelling on the N24 at Ballykisteen, County Tipperary yesterday evening between 7.45pm and 8.15pm, to contact them at Tipperary Garda Station on 062 80670, The Garda confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda station.
