Kathryn Thomas is engaged to her long-term boyfriend Padraig McLouglin.

The couple were enjoying a staycation at in Laois’ Ballyfin house when Padraig got down on one knee.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, the RTÉ star said she was innocently sitting in her dressing gown and slippers with her hair pinned back, eating a packet of peanuts when he popped the question.

“I bawled, I cried my eyes out,” she said.

“I didn’t think it was going to feel this special, but it is wonderful.”

The couple met in 2013 while both were ordering a drink in O’Donoghue’s Pub on Baggot Street.
