Ronnie Wood has admitted that the new Rolling Stones album was a “complete accident”.
Stones fans went wild recently when it was revealed that the band had recorded Blue & Lonesome, their first studio album in over a decade – but Ronnie has revealed that it wasn’t exactly a long time in the planning.
Speaking to Q magazine at the Q Awards, he said of the quick recording: “It was just like the Stones in the early days when you used to hear them do I’m A King Bee and Walking The Dog.
“It was a complete accident that it happened. It was just on the spur of the moment, very spontaneous.
“We suddenly had an album in two days which it’s a real kick up the pants for you, it’s great.”
Ronnie was at the ceremony to present the prestigious Les Paul Award to U2′s The Edge, and told the magazine how pleased he was to be able to honour his fellow musician.
He said: “I was honoured to get the call to come and present him. I would get out of bed to present him, so I did.”
Meanwhile, at home Ronnie is living slightly less of a rock n roll lifestyle as he looks forward to his first Christmas with his twin baby daughters, Alice and Gracie.
“I’m gonna dress up the little twins as Christmas puddings, and they are gonna look fantastic. I love it,” he revealed.
Blue & Lonesome is set to be released on December 2.
