Gardaí are renewing their appeals for information in connection with the deaths of a couple in Mayo.

The remains of Tom and Kitty Fitzgerald have now been released to their families.

Their son is said to be in a critical but stable condition in Beaumount Hospital.

Gardaí say they are not looking for anyone in relation to the investigation and they will not be releasing the results of post-mortem examinations for operational reasons.

They have also appealed for the privacy of the family be respected.
