Rookies Garry Ringrose and Joey Carbery are prepared for what boss Joe Schmidt branded “baptism of fire” Test debuts as Ireland meet New Zealand at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Schmidt has admitted centre Ringrose and fly-half Carbery should be pitched into second-half action for their Test debuts, with the raw talents boasting just 38 Leinster appearances between them.

Back-to-back world champions New Zealand were bidding to extend their record winning sequence to 19 victories, but had to parachute flanker Jerome Kaino in at lock to offset missing trio Brodie Retallick, Sam Whitelock and Luke Romano.
