Honey G has been this year’s most controversial and divisive contestant on The X Factor.
But now, after weeks of the rapper’s unique performances and outraging the nation for being a novelty act in the competition, it seems that she may actually stand a chance at winning the whole thing.
Honey G – whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford – has had her odds slashed by bookmakers after her latest performance of Kriss Kross’ 90s hit Jump.
Simon Cowell, not particularly her biggest fan, even hailed it a success, describing her performance as “fun and believable”.
Bookies are now fearing that they could be set for a huge loss as her odds have been cut to 7-1 for Honey G being crowned X Factor champion for 2016 – before the live shows began, she was 150-1 to win with one bookmakers, and 50-1 with others.
Wiliam Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Honey G is now the 7-1 third favourite (having been 50-1) and it pains me to say it but she could just win this.”
Coral’s John Hill added: “At the start of the competition we thought Honey G was going to be the novelty act which would entertain and hang around for a few weeks before leaving.
“However, what has transpired is the biggest gamble in X Factor history and if she was to go all the way, bookmakers could be looking at a half a million pay-out on the rapper.”
Girl group Four of Diamonds are being touted as the next act to leave the competition, during Sunday night’s results show.

Honey G, 35, is set to join her fellow top eight acts – Ryan Lawrie, Four of Diamonds, 5 After Midnight, Matt Terry, Saara Aalto, Sam Lavery and Emily Middlemas – on The X Factor Live Tour 2017, so it’s definitely not the last we’ll see of her.
Fans of the show either love or hate the urban artist, with Honey G often being the most talked-about act every weekend.
She has also been talked about in the wider media by stars such as Lily Allen and Professor Green, both who have slammed her for mocking rap music.

But on the latest live episode of the show, Simon told Honey G: “On paper this shouldn’t work, and every week I keep thinking it’s going to end – but then tonight, once again, you stepped up Honey.
“There are so many people getting their knickers in a twist over you. You know, music can be fun and you’re fun, you’re believable and you’re entertaining. And by the way, backstage you are one of the nicest contestants we’ve had on the show.”
