Glen Rovers came late to secure a first Munster club final appearance since 1976.
The Cork champions snuck their noses in front on 58 minutes courtesy of a Patrick Horgan free and went two clear when Conor Dorris pointed in the first minute of stoppages.
Crucial to their progression was Cathal Hickey’s 54th minute save to deny Seanie O’Brien at a time when the sides were level at 0-13 apiece. This semi-final win brings to end a seven-year wait for a Cork victory in the Munster club SHC.
Patrickswell were 0-7 to 0-4 at the break, with Diarmuid Byrnes (one free and a ’65) and Aaron Gillane (three frees) contributing the bulk of their scores. They could have had a goal early on with Cian Lynch pulling his shot across the goal and wide.
It took the Glen 14 minutes to open their account, by which juncture they had clocked seven wides. Patrick Horgan (0-2), Dean Brosnan and David Busteed hit their four scores, but management are sure to have been left frustrated by the nine wides they tallied.
Horgan and Gillane traded early second-half points before Busteed, Donal Cronin and Brosnan hit three on the bounce to bring the Cork champions level for the first time in proceedings (0-8 all).
They were level twice more, with Glen Rovers, following Trojan work from Horgan to win himself a free, taking the lead as Horgan nailed his fifth free on 57 minutes.
