Former England footballer Wayne Bridge has confessed that he is terrified about going on I’m A Celebrity – but is determined to stick it out.

Wayne, who is now retired, said he has never really put himself “out there” and hopes to show viewers what kind of a person he is.

“I am bricking myself,” he said. “I am so nervous and scared of everything.

“This whole thing is so different for me. I have never really put myself out there publicly before.”

Wayne, who is married The Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford, said whatever happens in the Aussie jungle, he intends to stay and face it.

“I would be devastated if I shouted ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’” he said.

“Of course my friends will take the mickey and I will be getting ripped if I scream.

“But I want to give the Trials a go. I’ve seen previous celebrities jump out of a plane and whilst I will be scared to actually do it, I think I will get a buzz from it too.”

While it’s early days yet, Wayne said it would be an incredible feeling to be named King of the Jungle.

“It would mean you are liked by the British public,” he said.

“This is the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done, as well as being emotionally tough. But knowing how I have felt these last few days waking up knowing I am going, I also know it’s going to be exciting.”
