Soap viewers were left with an unexpected cliffhanger last night when an ITV announcer told them Coronation Street had finished just 15 minutes into the episode.
The voiceover blunder came during the first of Monday’s instalments of the programme, when fans were told that the show was over as it cut to an ad break.
Coronation Street airs at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Mondays, but at the break 15 minutes into the first episode the announcer said: “Return to Coronation Street in half an hour.”
Viewers had been waiting to see a dramatic development in character Maria Connor’s storyline as former pal Caz Hammond is framing her for her disappearance.
Just as the programme cut to a break, Maria was shown hesitating over whether to go inside her flat, not realising that Caz was hiding just inside the doorway.
I'm pretty sure there's still another 15 minutes of #Corrie to go, @itv voiceover guy.
