Marcus Wareing is always a tough critic on MasterChef: The Professionals but he really let one hopeful know what he thought when he did not like his signature dish.
When Robert, who works at a small hotel in St Andrews presented the judges with a stack of venison, potato and beetroot with pureed celeriac, he got a demolishing from the tough star.
Marcus pulled a face upon tasting the dish before he slammed the presentation, said the ingredients were not well cooked and added insult to injury when he said he hated the sauce. His comments had viewers at home running for cover.
Good heavens. That was a savaging from MW. #masterchef

Woah #masterchef is BRUTAL!!

Marcus seems to have a personal dislike for that celeriac lad. #Masterchef

After the criticism, Robert admitted: “It was the toughest day of my career.”
And viewers could not help but sympathise.
Feel sorry for Robert - I thought the venison stack looked pretty good TBH #masterchef

I have a feeling the #masterchef judges didnt like Robert from the moment he walked thru the door...body language spoke volumes!

They had it in for Robert from the start, bless him! #masterchef

Earlier in the episode Monica Galetti’s challenge of whipping up a pistachio and raspberry tart with white chocolate creme anglaise in 25 minutes just seemed impossible.
Impress your friends and family by baking @MGaletti01's pistachio and raspberry tart with a white chocolate anglaise. 👌 #MasterChefUK pic.twitter.com/yMQmV6Qzmo

#GBBO is a doddle compared to @MGaletti01 making #MasterChef contestants make a frangipane tart in 25 mins with no warning. Cruel!
— Huw Davies (@DaviesHW) November 8, 2016
No chance anyone will get the tart done #masterchef

But some were just distracted by her new blonde hair.
Its election night, time to focus on the real issues that matter: Monica Galetti's hair! #MasterChef

Wonder what face Monica pulled when she first saw her new hair colour? #masterchef
— Ian Cornelius (@IanJCornelius) November 8, 2016
Monica's hair on #Masterchef - no, just no! 🙈

"Everything we do is with love, is with care", said #Monica, she should have thought of that before she hit the blonde hair dye #Masterchef
— Janbo25 (@JaniceGilfillan) November 8, 2016
Why has Monica smeared custard (or should that be créme anglaise) on her barnet? #masterchef
