The All-island Obesity Action Forum is holding a conference today examining the influences on appetite and its impact on obesity.

It is estimated that two thirds of people in Ireland are overweight or obese.

Joanna Silva from Safe Food said that Ireland remains one of the most countries obese in Europe.

“It’s expensive to the Health Service, it’s taking days and years of life from everyone that suffers from obesity,” she said.

“It’s an epidemic crisis and it needs to be looked at as an epidemic.”
