Spare a thought for Whitehawk FC and their fans, denied passage to the next stage of the FA Cup by a poorly-timed whistle.

The National League South side had welcomed Stourbridge to The Enclosed Ground in East Sussex for the first round of the FA Cup.

The sides were drawing 1-1 as the game headed into the final seconds and the home side launched a final attack from a corner.

The ball was knocked around the box before falling to substitute Javier Favarel, who blasted it into the top corner of the net.

Unfortunately for Favarel and the team, the referee had blown then final whistle as the player struck the ball and so decreed the game was over before it hit the back of the net.

No goal and they have to do it all again in a replay.

To make matters worse, Whitehead keeper Ross Flitney protested so much he was sent off and will miss the next game.
