A new centre for Special Olympics Ireland is opening today.

The headquarters is located at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin – which is also home to other sporting bodies.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Patrick O’Donovan will officially open the centre later this morning.

CEO of Sport Ireland John Treacy, says it’s fantastic for Special Olympics Ireland: “They won’t be paying rent anymore which is good news.

“They can put their money into the development of the sports around the country and they are also on the campus with all the other governing bodies of sport and there is real cooperation they have all the services on the campus.

“So it is the right place to be if you are a sporting organisation without a shadow of a doubt.”
