SIPTU says pay needs to be restored to public sector workers faster.
The union’s public administration and community division is holding a conference over the next two days to discuss this issue, as well as recruitment and outsourcing.
It is calling on the Government to renegotiate the Lansdowne Road Agreement in light of the economic recovery.
SIPTU Divisional Organiser is John King: “Public sector workers have been listening for some time now to politicians saying that the crisis is over and that we are in a stabilizing and growing economy.
“Across the wider economy pay improvements are being addressed and public sector workers who shifted an enormous burden during the economic crisis, by way of pay cuts and so on want to see those pay cuts restored faster.”
