The xx have revealed details of their third album, and have also dropped a new track, and the band’s fans are incredibly excited.

It’s the indie pop group’s first new track since 2013 and their new album, I See You, will be the first since their 2012 chart-topping record Coexist.

The xx’s new single On Hold debuted on Beats 1, and Romy from the London-based group said she was “really excited, nervous and excited” about hearing it on the radio for the first time.

She said: “I’m probably just going to be in my house, and I’m sure I’ll get shivers. I’ve listened to it a lot of times thinking, ‘how can I change it, how can it be different, is this right, is this good?’

“To finally just hear it and let go of it, and for it just to be in everyone else’s hands, I can’t wait.”

Fans were thrilled to have some new music from the popular group, who have been a chart force since releasing their Mercury Prize-winning debut album – xx – in 2009.

Between Coexist and their forthcoming release, on sale in January next year, they have also released two EPs: The xxmas and Hivern Remixes.

There were instant reviews of On Hold on Twitter.

Some were wildly happy and thankful just to see the three-piece group return with new music.

The group – made up of Romy, Jamie xx and Oliver Sim – have even “saved 2016″, apparently.

The xx will soon be heading off on a world tour, starting in Croatia and performing in countries including Poland, Brazil and Argentina.
