The Government is to provide an additional €3.9m in aid for countries in Central and West Africa.

Around 9.1 million people are currently in need of urgent humanitarian assistance in the Central African Republic, Chad and Niger.

It will bring Ireland’s support for the region this year to over €16m and is part of a policy to target crises which do not receive global attention.
