Ten stars from the worlds of sport, television and entertainment will enter the jungle as the new series of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! kicks off tonight.

Broadcaster and former Countdown star Carol Vorderman will join Olympian Sam Quek, retired footballer Wayne Bridge, ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional Ola Jordan and actor Larry Lamb in the ITV series.

The line-up is completed by Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, comedian Joel Dommett, Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, TV and radio presenter Lisa Snowdon and dancer Jordan Banjo from popular troupe Diversity.

Carol, 55, said that she does not care what people think of her taking part in the reality series.

She said: “I know people will ask ‘why does Carol need to do this?’ but I have never ever paid attention to what others think. I make my own decisions. I like the show and want to do it.

“I have been watching the show for years and have laughed so much. It is so funny”.

She said: “Now I am a menopausal mama, I am having the time of my life. I am doing a lot more adventurous stuff and it’s the sense of adventure that I love about this show. It’s a very free time in my life”.

Carol said that she is hoping the other contestants in the camp are not “moaners”, as she is “bouncy” and up for “singing and bantering around”.

Former EastEnders star Larry, 69, is this year’s oldest celebrity camper but he is adamant he will not pull out of the jungle until he is “booted out”.

He said: “I’m not nervous, more excited. It’s a great experience and a challenge.

“When you get to my age, you are always the old one. On a ?lm or acting job, I am always the granddad! Am I ?t? I’m nearly 70 years old and I am ?t for a 70-year-old.

“I am de?nitely not going to quit the jungle though, I will stay until I am booted out.”

Ant and Dec are returning as presenters after fronting the programme since its inception in 2002.

I’m A Celebrity sees the campers trading their lives of luxury to live in a jungle camp in basic conditions in Australia.

They must compete in various stomach-churning challenges and Bushtucker Trials to win food and treats, and win favour to evade the public vote.

Previous jungle champions Vicky Pattison, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are to front the newly titled companion show I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp, with comedian Chris Ramsey.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! starts on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
