Model Daisy Lowe has admitted that she was “really disappointed” after being booted off the television dance show, Strictly Come Dancing.

She left the competition after week eight on Sunday after facing the dreaded dance-off for the second time in the series – this time against athlete Greg Rutherford.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on the BBC contest’s spin-off show It Takes Two on Monday, she said: “I would be lying if I didn’t say I was really disappointed.”

But she added that she would be supporting her “friends” still in the show as they take the competition to Blackpool for week nine this weekend.

After failing to win over the judges with a disco-inspired salsa to Deee-Lite’s Groove Is In The Heart, Daisy, 27, said it was the dance she had felt the most confident about.

“It was the first time on the dance floor that I thought, ‘Yes, I’m having a great time’, she said. “I was nervous, but we loved the dance and that’s all that matters.”

Professional dancer Alijaz Skorjanec revealed he would deeply miss his partner and student.

He told Zoe: “I cannot tell you how much (I will miss Daisy). We put in every single hour we possibly could and we had the best time.

“We had a jacket potato every day for lunch together and porridge every morning, then some training. It was a beautiful, beautiful (few) weeks.”

The pair were a hit with the judges from the beginning of the show, beginning with a waltz, which judge Len Goodman described as “the best first dance” he had ever seen.

Daisy added: “We lost my grandpa on the first day of the competition and this has been an incredibly bright and sparkly gift for my family.

“Strictly has been a gift in so many ways.”

Asked which of the remaining seven couples she wanted to see win the competition, she said she hoped it would either be Louise Redknapp or Claudia Fragapane.

“As a feminist I would like for a woman to go through,” she said,”so I’m rooting for one of the girls.”

She added that she had spent her first Monday morning in weeks without dance training by taking her dogs for a long walk in the rain and enjoying a pub lunch with her best friend and her children.
