Leonard Cohen’s son has said he wishes he could thank his father “just one last time” in an emotional tribute following the singer-songwriter’s death.
The Canadian artist died at his home in Los Angeles on November 7, with his death being confirmed four days later by his family.
In a Facebook post, his son Adam said the 82-year-old had been buried in private in Montreal alongside his parents.
He wrote: ”As I write this I’m thinking of my father’s unique blend of self-deprecation and dignity, his approachable elegance, his charisma without audacity, his old-world gentlemanliness and the hand-forged tower of his work.
“My sister and I just buried my father in Montreal. With only immediate family and a few lifelong friends present, he was lowered into the ground in an unadorned pine box, next to his mother and father. Exactly as he’d asked.”
Cohen’s death came just weeks after he said he was “ready to die” in an interview.
He released his 14th and final studio album, You Want It Darker, in October, which included lyrics such as ”I’m leaving the table / I’m out of the game.”

In the Facebook post, Adam added: ”There’s so much I wish I could thank him for, just one last time.
“I’d thank him for the comfort he always provided, for the wisdom he dispensed, for the marathon conversations, for his dazzling wit and humour.
Rest In Peace dear & amazing #LeonardCohen You were such a huge influence on me. I'm grateful sir, you'll be missed.
