A woman has told a Dublin murder trial that she saw the accused man stab his alleged victim with a sharp knife following a fist fight outside a chipper.
Donal Colgan of Killarney Court, Killarney Street in Dublin 1 denies murdering David Sheridan on North Strand Road in August 2014.
Teresa Marcela was working in Luigi’s Takeaway on the night of the alleged murder – August 17 2014.
Donal Colgan was a regular, she said, but she’d never seen David Sheridan before that night. He seemed tipsy, she said and ordered a batter burger.
Some sort of row between him and Mr. Colgan broke out outside and a fist fight developed. She said the accused was throwing more punches.
She said she heard people shouting that he was gone, but from the hatch inside, she saw him return a short time later.
From his jacket, she said he pulled a sharp knife, similar to one they use to cut vegetables in the chipper. She said he lifted it up and stabbed Mr. Sheridan a few times.
She could be seen on CCTV footage running into the back of the shop. She said she was screaming and couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Donal Colgan, who’s 65, denies the charge.
