Jeremy Clarkson has thanked fans and critics for the positive response for his new motoring show The Grand Tour.
The first episode of the former Top Gear host’s new TV effort became available to stream on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, and the programme received rave reviews.
Hours after it first aired, Jeremy wrote on Twitter: “Genuinely relieved and grateful today. Huge thanks to everyone who has sent messages.”
His co-star James May also tweeted his thanks and said the team were all “relieved” at the response.

Later in the day, it seems the crew responsible for the new show went to a pub to celebrate, with Jeremy and Richard Hammond cheekily hinting that they would have to pay for drinks.

The Grand Tour kicked off with the first episode, called The Holy Trinity – and it was an exciting, hilarious thrill-ride, according to reviews.
Celebrities and journalists led the way in praising the show, although it was compared to Top Gear by some.
Fans also hit Twitter to praise the effort, and one even thanks the BBC for giving Jeremy the boot.
Thank you @BBC_TopGear for firing Clarkson! #TheGrandTour is way better than Top Gear will ever be again! This is amazing!!!

The first episode of The Grand Tour saw the presenters insist Jeremy was not “technically” fired from BBC’s motoring show.
The action-packed opener also saw the trio test the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari sports cars on their new track in Portugal.
