The President of The National Party said today that there should be a temporary ban on Muslims entering the country.

The party is calling for a completely new approach to Ireland’s immigration policy.

Justin Barrett defended his party’s views, saying that anyone who does not agree with the “liberal left consensus” is branded as a fascist.

Mr Barrett said that he believes that a ban on Muslims emigrating to Ireland is necessary, due to what he claims is a rise in Islamic fundamentalism here.

“I think there’s a need for a temporary ban because I think, and again, there was a PrimeTime documentary on this, the rise of Islmaic fundamentalism in this country, and such radical Islamic organisations, as the Muslim Brotherhood,” he said.

Mr Barrett previously ran in the 2004 European elections in the East constituency, where gained 2.43% of the vote.
