The Strictly Come Dancing Children In Need special on Friday night saw taekwondo athlete Lutalo Muhammad crowned the winner of the Pudsey trophy.

He was up against three other Team GB stars for the title: gold medal-winning rower Helen Glover MBE, hockey star Hollie Webb and slalom canoeist Joe Clarke.

Lutalo danced with Karen Clifton, who was forced to leave the current series of Strictly when her partner Will Young pulled out of the competition.

The four Olympians danced a routine to Lady Gaga’s Edge Of Glory in front of Strictly judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli in the special, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

It was a truly spectacular show and fans were delighted with the sports stars’ performances.

Bruno praised Muhammad for being a “master of both disciplines”, referring to his skills on the dance floor and in taekwondo.

Len said, of all the Team GB dancers: “May I first say, if they gave out medals for commitment and effort, you’d all be gold medallists. You were brilliant.”

Lutalo, who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics and a bronze in London 2012, thanked the “awesome crowd” and his “lovely” dance partner.

At home, viewers were in awe of his moves and took to Twitter to share their glee.

Well done, Lutalo! Maybe it’s time to start thinking about Strictly 2017?
