Andy Murray has retained his position at the peak of world tennis by beating world number two Novak Djokovic at the ATP World Tour Finals.

The Scotsman dispatched the Serbian in straight sets, claiming a 6-3 6-4 victory in one hour and 42 minutes, and it took a lot less time than that before the tributes to Britain’s tennis star started to pour in.

The number of celebrities getting involved to wish Murray well is pretty mind-blowing.

There’s been fellow tennis players.

Including a certain sibling of course…

The triumphant end to Murray’s year has been noticed by people across the sporting world though. Some British…

But some from overseas too!

The politicians were watching too.

We can’t help but think Harry Potter writer JK Rowling was referencing some political happenings in her tweet of approval.

Meanwhile, businessman and star of The Apprentice Lord Alan Sugar was another tipping the world number one for a knighthood.

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart was quick to show his appreciation too.

Although we think he isn’t quite up to date with the modern lingo for “greatest of all time”…

(It’s okay Patrick, we definitely had to look that one up too)
