Australia kept alive ambitions of a ‘Grand Slam’ on their end-of-season European tour with a 25-23 victory over France in Paris last night.
Having already beaten Wales and Scotland, Australia claimed a third scalp at the Stade de France with outside-half Bernard Foley providing 15 points.
The Wallabies led 13-11 at the break with Foley converting a penalty try and adding two penalties, while Virimi Vakatawa crossed for France and Maxime Machenaud kicked two penalties.
Foley pounced from close range just after half-time, but France stayed in touch as Vakatawa set up Jean-Marc Doussain to make the score 20-16.
But Tevita Kuridrani’s 57th-minute try eventually proved decisive despite Wesley Fofana’s converted score 15 minutes from time.
Australia play Ireland in Dublin next weekend before meeting England at Twickenham on December 3.
