Students could get more of a say in how their secondary school is run.

A new bill being put forward has outlined how young people could possibly sit on the board of management.

The proposals would also force schools to give parents and students performance updates.

Former Headmaster of St. Andrews College in Dublin – Arthur Godsil – thinks accepting students onto boards of management could be a positive move: “Students should be consulted absolutely in terms of the learning process.

“They have a lot of offer, particularly it is a natural follow and a natural progression for students from taking more control of their learning to actually be part of the management of it.”
