Lisa Snowdon has spoken again about not having had the chance to become a mum, saying she feels at peace with how things have worked out.
The radio presenter and model, who was in an on/off relationship with George Clooney for five years, was the second person to be evicted from the jungle when she left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on Sunday night.
During her time in camp, she talked to other contestants about whether they wanted a family, saying of herself: “Not now. It’s a weird one because I left it kind of late.
“I just didn’t want to find anyone I actually wanted to be with and I didn’t want to have kids and just…I wanted that unit. So I feel like, maybe not in this lifetime now.”
She also told the cameras: “Children enrich your life so much and, of course, I wanted to be a mum. It just didn’t work out for me that way.”
On her exit from the jungle, Lisa, 44, told the Daily Mirror more about how she felt on the subject.
She said: “It didn’t happen and it’s something that I have kind of come to terms with. A lot of the younger ones in there (camp), they want children or they have children. I’m really lucky that I’ve got four little kids in the family.
“I did always want to be a mum when I was younger, it was something I always imagined doing and being.
“But slowly over the years it just hasn’t happened for various reasons, mostly the fact that I wasn’t in happy relationships and I just didn’t want to have a baby and not have a happy home, I didn’t want to have an unhappy pregnancy, I just didn’t.”
Lisa, whose boyfriend George Smart met her as she left the camp, went on: “And now I’m 45 in January and it hasn’t happened. Rather than feel sorry for myself I feel like I’ve found George now and we are just really happy that we have each other.
“Sometimes you have to be grateful for what you’ve got than trying to keep pushing it. I feel quite content in the fact we have made that decision between us and I’m just a really rocking Aunty. That’s going to be my role.”
She also spoke about what she had found tough on the show: “I’m quite a loner, really. I like to be on my own a lot even though I’m quite outgoing. I still like being at home and shutting the door, nights in.
“So to live with that amount of people in that confined space was a challenge in itself, you can’t go anywhere, you’ve got your hammock, you’ve got the log, you can walk to the creek, there are not that many places you can go to get away.
“That was the worst bit for me, having those moments when you are lying there by yourself and thinking about what’s going on. I was just thinking about Christmas and what I was going to buy people for Christmas. But I see the world in a different way now, I feel very appreciative of the simple things in life.”
Lisa found a role for herself as the camp cook and said she would love to host her own cooking show: “I would absolutely love to do that. It would be fantastic. I loved cooking for everyone, I came up with all sorts of things. I want to enjoy Christmas and then I’ve got a few things planned for the new year.”
