RESPONSES RECEIVED from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the Office of the Minister for Education and Skills, to correspondence from Wexford Borough District Council, were met with disapproval by Counillors at a recent meeting.

The failure of a TII representative to attend the meeting, following a request being submitted for one to do so, furthered the concerns of representatives regarding proposed changes to speed limits in the area.

These include a proposal to increase the speed limit on a stretch of the N11 at Ferrycarrig from 60 km/ph to 80 km/ph, despite it featuring a dangerous junction which has been the site of collisions.

Cllrs. George Lawlor and Tony Dempsey also stated that they were not happy with the no-show, with Cllr. Dempsey expressing his thought that such a move is testament to the apparent global disconnect between decision-makers and citizens which has contributed, for example, to the recent election of Donald Trump as President in the US and vote in favour of Brexit in the UK.
