Doctor Who Christmas special: first-look picture released

Fans have been given a glimpse of the much-anticipated Doctor Who Christmas Special with the release of a first-look picture.

The picture shows Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Matt Lucas (Nardole) and other guest stars in action.


Doctor Who: The Return Of Doctor Mysterio (BBC/PA)

The episode, titled The Return Of Doctor Mysterio, will see the Doctor gain a new sidekick in the form of a superhero as he embarks on his latest adventure in The Big Apple. 

Other prominent figures set to join him are the character of The Ghost (Justin Chatwin) and a journalist (Charity Wakefield). 

The Christmas special airs on BBC One on Christmas Day at 5.45pm.
