Let’s face it, over the last few years artists have been trying to release a song that would be considered among ‘the christmas classics’ in years to come but sadly none have come close.

Today Ronan Keating has released his song, Summer Wonderland.

Yes, you read that right but don’t worry, it’s not what you think.

The singer has teamed up with Air New Zealand and actor Julian Dennison to create a song relatable to the festive season in New Zealand and Australia.

Filled with mozzie spray, bbq’s and sunscreen – oh my!

But before you listen here are some handy translations to help you understand:

Jangles = Flip Flops

Prickles = Small thorns

Barbies = BBQ

Avo = Afternoon

Rellies = Cousins

Air New Zealand’s General Manager Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams said: “The idea of sleigh bells and snow doesn’t really resonate for us in the Southern Hemisphere so we wanted to have fun with the concept of ‘carol equality’ and come up with a song we Kiwis and Aussies can relate to.

“We hope the video will not only spread festive cheer but will also stand out against more traditional Christmas advertising, inspiring travellers to come down and see you don’t need winter to enjoy our wonderland.”

We don’t know about you but a summer wonderful sounds like something that would be right up our street.
