Alan Pardew may have been given a lifeline by Southampton’s goalkeeper.

Southampton are playing at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace today in the Premier League.

Pardew’s Palace are languishing just above the relegation zone after six straight defeats, while Southampton are comfortable in mid-table.

However, the home side got a stroke of luck when Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster had an absolute howler to give birthday boy Christian Benteke the easiest of goals.

Palace are 2-0 up at half-time after James Tomkins slotted home a second from a poorly defended corner.
