Saara Aalto wowed the X Factor judges as she took to the stage during the final.

The Finnish singer performed her favourite song of the show, Icelandic singer Bjork’s 1995 hit It’s Oh So Quiet.

Judge Louis Walsh praised her for not being predictable and said: “I would buy your album! You have the X Factor.”

X Factor boss Simon Cowell said he loved that she did not “take herself too seriously” and said her performance was “off the charts”.

Her mentor, Sharon Osbourne, thanked Nicole Scherzinger for picking Saara as the wildcard during the judges’ houses stage of the competition.

An emotional Sharon said: “I want to thank Nicole from the bottom of my heart and I want to say I admire you as a young woman so much for your strength and talent. You are a great example to other women.”

After her performance, Saara told host Dermot O’Leary she nearly gave up singing a year ago because she “couldn’t find her place”.

She said: “A year ago I thought I would quit, I would give up because I didn’t find my place. Here it is, you guys accepted me and for the first time I feel so loved, I just want to love you back, thank you so much.”

Matt Terry picked Sam Smith’s Bond theme tune, Writing’s On The Wall, as his song of the show.

Following his performance, Nicole ended up in tears as she praised his talent.

She said: “You were the reason I was meant to come back to the X Factor. There are no words for what you have and what you do. What you have, you’re born with it. Thank you for sharing that gift. You deserve to be up there right now.”

Simon admitted he had had doubts about Matt making the final, but said that following his performance, he “absolutely deserved it”.

Wiping tears from his cheeks, Matt thanked his fans and told Dermot: “I feel like I’ve found who I am and where I belong.”
