Comedian Robert Webb as a lollipop man
‘LOLLIPOP RAGE’, the term attributed to the phenomenon of road rage directed towards school traffic wardens, is not considered a significant issue in County Wexford, despite one reported recent incidence of a motorist deliberately driving into a warden as they helped school children to cross the road.
As recently reported in national media, growing numbers of Irish motorists are prone to so-called ‘lollipop rage.’
Communications Officer at Wexford County Council, David Minogue, told the Wexford Echo that “our records would support this assertion, with just four recorded incidents over the last seven years.”
However, he said, “we do take this welcome opportunity to remind the wider public of the valuable service offered by school wardens throughout County Wexford.
“We urge all drivers to be particularly vigilant when approaching school locations, pedestrian crossings etc, including those manned by school wardens.”
